Bowie Ginting and Orca claims Indonesian National Championship Round 2 (March 20, 2011)
Bowie Ginting (Second from left)
The 2nd round of 1/10 EP Indonesian National Championship was held in Sunter International Speedway, which received new asphalt last week. 50 drivers attended this race which was divided into 2 classes, Stock 11.5 class and FD class. The weather was hot and we were sure it could be like that until the end of the race. In Stock qualifying, it was Bowie Ginting who took his Xray T3′11 to the TQ spot followed by Teddy Syach who switched to Tamiya after one year using Hot Bodies, 5 seconds behind Bowie. Dimas Ardian (Hot Bodies), Ronald kasengkang (Tamiya), and Suwardi Suliandy (Xray) completed the top 5 positions. Ade took the TQ spot in the FD class with his TOP Sabre followed by Faiza (TOP) and senior driver, Eka P, who drove his Teddy Syach’ built FD chassis.
In A-Final leg 1, it was Bowie who held his lead, running away from Teddy Syach building up a 6 second lead until Syach got his car out of shape. Unfortunately for Chandra Yosef he took 3rd place from 10th place on the first lap, but his transponder wasn’t working. It was a close run between Ronald, Dimas and Andhyka fighting for 3rd place. Unfortunately, Dimas had a problem with his Hot Bodies TCX and allowed Andhyka and Ronald to get away. At the end of the run, Bowie took the first place with 28 laps @ 8.08 followed by Teddy Syach with 27 laps @ 8.01 and Andhyka with 27 laps @ 8.11. In the FD class, Ade took the win followed by Faiza. Unfortunately, the rain started to come down at the start of the 2nd A-main leg of FD class. The race organizer decided to stopped the race and the overall results were taken from the first final.

P.Y.Tang wins for Xray-Orca at JBRCC Race Round 1 (March 23, 2011)
JBRCC held their first round GP and EP race at UTM Track on March 20, 2011. This will be the first round of many that will be held across the Johor state of Malaysia. The newly resurfaced UTM track have much better traction than before and made tire wear lesser. In the EP class, P.Y.Tang from Team Xray Singapore and Team Orca managed to take the win despite starting from 2nd. Chee Lip Keong driving a Tamiya and H-Energy took 2nd and Jonest Wong in a Tamiya completed the podium in 3rd. TQ was held by Nicholas Lee in a Tamiya finished in 4th.
In the EP qualifying rounds, Nicholas Lee led the pace clocking 24 laps 5:09.966 in heat 2 to take the TQ honor. P.Y.Tang Orca powered Xray T3'11 could not get his car well enough to handle the power from the Orca RX2 5.5T with turbo boost, managed only 23 laps 5:03.610 to qualify 2nd.

With this change, P.Y.Tang posed better laptimes and also the fastest laptimes in the finals. Nicholas Lee started from pole was immediately followed closely by P.Y.Tang, both pulling away from the rest, but unfortunately Nicholas Lee suffered from techincal issues in Final A1 and A3 dropping him off from the podium. P.Y.Tang said that his Xray T3'11 was so much easier to drive and more consistent after changing to the OrcaQ QX1 11.5T and he used the same turbo boost settings that he previously used in TITC 2011, winning the first two finals to take the overall win. Chee Lip Keong taking advantage from Nicholas Lee technical issues, finished 2nd overall, which he took 2nd in Final A1 and 2nd in Final A3. Jonest Wong completed the podium spot in 3rd.

Orca TQ and win for 4WD GT and Super Stock at the Tamiya Asia Cup Singapore Qualifying 2011 Round 1 (March 13, 2011)
Long awaited the 14th Tamiya Asia Cup Singapore Championship 2011 held at Racecraft Race Complex after a long break since the Tamiya Asia Cup Finals Manila in September 2010. Adding a new class this year is the FWD Class, along with 4WD GT, Super Stock, Mini and F1. Track layout was fairly technical in the in-field with tight chicanes. Running sensorless brushless system for all classes this year, there are some changes in strategies to produce a faster and reliable car.
In the 4WD GT class, P.Y.Tang of Team Orca powered his Tamiya TA05 V2 to top the group taking TQ spot and the extra points for best qualifying lap at 12.747s. Chee Lip Keong H-Energy 6000 60C powered Tamiya TA05 V2 who did not really get a clean run qualified 2nd and first-timer E.C.Wee qualified 3rd in his Orca powered Tamiya TB03 although having some troubles with the drivetrain.
In the 4WD GT finals, P.Y.Tang took 1st for all 3 finals was lucky to avoid some traffic, while Chee Lip Keong an E.C.Wee battled out for the 2nd position.
Top 3 Qualifying Standings (4WD GT)
1. P.Y.Tang - Tamiya TA05 V2 - Orca Infinite - 24 laps 5:12.488 - Best lap 12.747s

2. E.C.Wee - Tamiya TA05 V2 - Orca Infinite
3. Chee Lip Keong - Tamiya TB03 - H-Energy
In the Super Stock class, it was also Orca powered TT01 that took the TQ and win. Shawn Chow took the early TQ spot but unfortunately he suffered from poor traction due to incorrect tire choice in the finals and dropped him out of the podium spot. Out of surprise this year is 15-year old Darryl Thong who showed that he could compete for the top spot to qualify for the TAC Finals, qualified 2nd with additional 3 points for best lap, and also took the overall win in his Orca-powered TT01. Stanley Hong took 2nd overall starting from 4th, and Kevin Wong finished 3rd.

Smokem TCX-FX Carbon Fiber Chassis available @ Quantum!
TCX-FX Carbon Fiber Chassis
The Hot Bodies TCX gets the Smokem treatment with the TCX-FX chassis. Firstly we have reduced the width of the chassis by almost 10mm. And with an overall width of only 94mm, scrubbing during hard cornering is minimized. The 2.2mm thick chassis has been designed to provide additional flex to deliver more grip and a wider tuning window - so you can dial-in your car in over a wide range of temperature and track conditions.
Other improvements include 2 additional LiPo support holes, which allow you to install locating nuts to bring the LiPo battery 5mm closer to the centerline of the car. We have also added front and rear balancing holes so you can balance your TCX with balance pins. All this translates to a faster car over a wider range of conditions.
The chassis design was engineered, tested and refined over several months of intense top level competition. And in the hands of Ryan Maker, it TQ’d and won the Modified class in both the NSW State Titles in Australia and 2010 Australian National Titles.
Like all Smokem chassis, the TCX-FX chassis accepts all LiPo’s - with or without humps - without additional retainers that may induce tweak.

P.Y.Tang of Orca-Xray finished A-Main 6th in Brushless Open 11.5T and B-Main 5th in Modified at TITC 2011 (February 27, 2011)
The annual TITC or Thailand International Touring Car Championship 2011 was held at a new venue at RC City in Bangkok, Thailand between Feb 23rd-27th, 2011. The new facility feature a sheltered rooftop touring and drift track with many hobby shops surrounding it. With over 700 entries in total to compete classes in Modified, Open Brushless 11.5T, Brushless 13.5T, Formula, FWD Touring and 2WD Mini. P.Y.Tang representing Team Xray Singapore and Team Orca was able to finish in a respectable A-Main 6th in Brushless Open 11.5T and B-Main 5th in Modified Class achieving his best result so far since joining the TITC in 2009.
As this is the first time for most drivers to race in a sheltered track, many have problems adapting to the tight and technical track. Moreover, the traction level is very much different compared to most tracks. The TITC 2011 layout consisted of 3 fast chicanes, 1 slow chicane and 2 large sweepers. During the initial testing, P.Y.Tang stated that he was having low traction problems but was easily solved by switching tire addicitve but once that was solved, his Xray T3'2011 was struglling with traction rolls and difficulty in driving a highly responsive car due to very high traction. After a few days of setup changes, P.Y.Tang was able to make his Xray T3'2011 easier to drive with good consistent lap times. Most of the major setup changes were at the shocks, droops and roll centers. By switching the front universal to Litemodz CVS also made the car much faster in corner speed and more steering which was required in the tight layout.
In the Brushless Open 11.5T class, all drivers uses the handout Speed Passion 11.5T V3 motor and zero fixed timing with your choice of ESC. P.Y.Tang Xray T3'2011 was equipped with the new Orca Vritra VTC Pro-Spec MK2 ESC that was easily clocking the top 3 fastest laptimes during the qualifying heats, seeing him leading the pack in some qualifying heats, traction rolls would cost him dropping his position well below. Also suffered from a stripped spur gear in Qualifying Heat 5, P.Y.Tang had to settle with qualifying overall 7th in the A-Main. Starting the finals in a unfavourable position in the mid-pack, it would be hard to compete for a podium spot. During the Final A1, P.Y.Tang managed to climbed up to 4th, after dropping down to 10th during the first chicane corner contacts. In the Final A2, it was looking good for P.Y.Tang after avoiding a pileup was in 4th after the first corner, looking to pass Tanes M. for 3rd. Close battling went on until 3-minute mark when Tanes M. overshot the long sweeper allowing P.Y.Tang to take the inside line into 3rd. While catching up to Chavit in 2nd, and defending from hard-presurring Tanes M in 4th, unfortunate slight contact from Tanes M. from behind caused P.Y.Tang to spin out in the middle chicane, dropping him to 8th. Final A3 started off clean this time and unable to pass, P.Y.Tang managed only 5th, and overall standings 6th in the top 10.

Using the same car and ESC system, P.Y.Tang qualified in B-Main 5th for the Modified Class. According to P.Y.Tang, his setup for the Xray T3'2011 was not much difference in both of the classes as he was using the OrcaQ QX1 Limited Edition 11.5T Brushless Racing Motor. During the initial testing, P.Y.Tang was using the Orca RX2 6.5T Brushless Motor but the QX1 11.5T gave an advantage in the tight layout with a smoother and easier drive around sweepers and corners, yet still very torquey in the in-field after optimizing the settings to his Orca Vritra speedo. Qualifying heats was quite an easy drive for P.Y.Tang, trying to make less mistake and focusing more on better driving lines. Consistent top 15 qualifying results between Q1-Q5 and posting best result of 18 laps 5:00.041 qualifying 9th in Q6 secured a place for P.Y.Tang in B-Main. P.Y.Tang started off Final B1 with a fresh set of tires but a small contact in the long sweeper, dropping him down the pack and managed only 8th. In the Final B2, a cleaner and more consistent run took P.Y.Tang into 2nd after the first minute, but unable to hold the pressure from Paphon C., P.Y.Tang finished in 3rd, and overall 5th after 2 finals.

Orca 4 A-Main Finalist in Brushless Open 11.5T and 4 B-Main Finalists in Modified at TITC 2011 (February 27, 2011)
Team Orca successfully piloted 4 drivers into the A-Main of the Brushless Open 11.5T in the recent Thailand International Touring Car Championships (TITC) 2011. A revamped Team Orca from Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore and Taiwan, with the new Orca Vritra VTC Pro-Spec MK2 speedo made its name during the event, easily seen to be the most powerful and fastest ESC for 11.5T class. Although the results would have been much better due to some mishaps during the qualifying heats and finals for Team Orca drivers, the new product from Orca proved to be the brand to beat in upcoming events and continue to be topping the classes.
