P.Y.Tang wins Modified Touring at 2013 RCMC Singapore EP Nationals Round 1

After a long break from the Electric National Series, RCMC had decided to rerun the event this year introducing 2013 Singapore EP Nationals Series. 3 Classes are to be competed including Modified Touring, FF Touring and 1:12 Pancar, taking best 3 of 4 rounds on points system. 

First round was on April 7, 2013 at the RCMC PA Campsite race track, which is known more to a GP track, with about 40 entries in total. High speed, long sweeper, bumpy and low traction are the characteristics of this track. We were informed by P.Y.Tang from Team XRAY/ORCA/BLITZ Singapore that he had won the Modified Touring, while Kevin Wong from Team TOP Singapore won the FF Touring and Alvin Ng took the 1:12 Pancar.

Modified Touring, P.Y.Tang ORCA-powered XRAY T4 was looking good at practise, a contender for the title. Due to the low traction condition, Blitz XFR was P.Y. choice as it provides better rear stability with good steering response. Qualifying rounds started at 9am, with drizzles still dropping since early morning. P.Y.Tang completed Q1 with a fast run, unfortunately there was a missed lap from the PT system, which would have been a 23 lapper to TQ the run. Q1 saw Alvin Koh top of the group, P.Y.Tang in second and Nelson Lee in 3rd. P.Y.Tang could not bettered his timing in Q2 and Q3 making one mistake too many to miss the 23 lapper had to settle with 2nd. Alvin Koh remained TQ and Nelson Lee in 3rd. Finals was a bit up and downs for many, with the top 3 all at tied points, P.Y.Tang managed to claim 1st with a better timing, followed by Nelson Lee in 2nd and Alvin Koh in 3rd.
