ORCA wins Shen Shiang Cup in Kuching, Malaysia (July 8, 2012)
Last but not least its the inaugural Shen Shiang Cup held in Kuching, E. Malaysia. It is one of the rare races where modified motors are ran at the race as the track is pretty big with some running as low as a 4.5T motor and it was a first time for me to drive a real modified motor(6.5T) in Malaysia for a long long time. It was nice to make many new friends and was also nice to see how RC is in E. Malaysia side and am very encouraged by the big turn out for the race. Thank you all for the great hospitality and a very special thank to Danny (Dan 21) for playing a great host during our stay in Kuching.
Qualifying Results:
TQ Wong Kok Wai 21 laps 5:06:737
2nd Norazam 21 laps 5:08.670
3rd Michael Lo 21 laps 5:09.028
4th Shahrin 21 laps 5:09.132
5th Nilai Chong 21 laps 5:10:332
6th Chor T 21 laps 5:12:899
7th KS Chu 21 laps 5:13:448
8th Azahar 21 laps 5:13.994
9th Azman Azam 20 laps 5:00:023
10th Jacson Lim 20 laps 5:00:523
The results are extremely close with all KL drivers making it into the A-Main with our up and coming driver Mr. Wong KokWai securing TQ for the first time, it was very encouraging results for ORCA. E. Malaysia also had very good showing lead by Mr. Tan Wee Chor (Chor T) and our FEMCA Champion from Sabah, Mr. KS Chu along with Mr. Jacson Lim rounding off the top 10. The times showed that you had to be well close of doing 21 laps to be in the A Main with less than 8 sec covering the top 8.
For all racers running ORCA VX ESC in the A Main, ORCA Asia also took the opportunity to let drivers have a taste of the V3.0 software that is catered for the VX ESC. It proved that it is much faster, up to 0.2sec faster per lap in the hands of TQ, Wong kokWai, being the only one out of 2 racers to clock a fastest lap time of 13.8sec and Michael Lo clocking a lap time of 13.9sec. proving that the new software has its potential and all racers who had tested it all gave their thumbs up. Coming soon to a VX ESC near you.
The final results after the 3 Finals are as follows.
1st Wong KokWai / ORCA VX / ORCA RX-2 6.5T / ORCA INFINITE / Xray T3'12
2nd Michael Lo / ORCA VX / ORCA RX-2 6.5T / ORCA INFINITE / Xray T3'12
3rd Chor T / ORCA VX / ORCA RX-2 6.5T
4th Azahar / ORCA VX / ORCA RX-2 6.5T / ORCA INFINITE / Yokomo BD5Wxi
5th Norazam
6th KS Chu Yokomo / BD5Wxi
7th Jacson Lim
8th Nilai Chong Yokomo BD5Wxi
9th Azman Azam / ORCA VX / ORCA RX-2 6.5T / ORCA INFINITE / Xray T3'12
10th Shahrin / ORCA VX /ORCA INFINITE / Yokomo BD5Wxi
The final results proves again that ORCA is not only fast in the boosted class but also in modified class pitting it against all other brands as there were a wide variety of ESCs in the race like Tekin, HW, LRP and others. Having 6 cars with ORCA in their car again shows that ORCA is at its 50% or more result for all races that ORCA has its users in. ORCA proves its ease of driving and having superior power especially with the V3.0 software is able to catapult ORCA and its drivers to the top step of the podium.
