Team ARC P.Y.Tang attended the 2016 Malaysia National Championship Round 1 at Mutiara Rini, Johor, Malaysia. This is his second time attending the event in the same location. The medium size race track, which is located in a recreational park recently resurfaced generating medium to high grip.
New regulations for the event which uses the points system taking best 3 out of 5 qualifying rounds, with a maximum 3 sets of tires in the qualifying rounds and an additional set for the A-Main. P.Y.Tang secured the TQ position topping first 3 rounds in his ORCA-powered ARC R11. Azri Amri ORCA-powered Xray topped Q4 and Q5 to secure 2nd from the grid, ahead of ORCA-powered Awesomatix of Wong Kok Wai.

With 2 fresh sets of tires, P.Y.Tang was looking good going into the A-Final. After pulling away from the rest in Leg 1, a rare mistake clipping the curb dropped P.Y. to 3rd. Azri Amri was able to capitalize the chance taking the win in Leg 1. P.Y. came in 2nd taking back a position from Wong Kok Wai. In Leg 2, Azri Amri had a good start pressuring P.Y.Tang from the tone. Running a fresh sets of tires, P.Y. was able to hold off Azri and eventually pulled away for the win in Leg 2, with Shahrin in 2nd and Ken Ng in 3rd. A-Main Leg 3 was postponed after a short rain fall, with the track in lower traction level, making the last final a little more tricky. Without changing any setup, P.Y. was able to take a tone to tone win after some race incidents behind. Shahrin again capitalized came in 2nd and Wong Kok Wai held 3rd.
