Team ARC-ORCA P.Y.Tang TQ and win at BIRC 2013


New event this year, 2013 BIRC or Bangkok International RC Championships, organized by Xenon, was held at the new Huge RC Circuit in Thailand. Most drivers considered this race as a pre-TITC event arrived in Bangkok to test their cars and to know more of the track which is owned and managed by former IFMAR World Champion Surikarn. Classes to be competed in Modified, 13.5T Boost, 13.5T Non-Boost and Formula with Scotty Ernst as race director.

Following a successful race in Malaysia last week, Team ARC P.Y.Tang managed to top the group in all five rounds and winning the 13.5T Boost Class which the overall championship was decided only in the Final A3. 4 qualifying rounds were ran on Saturday, Team ARC/ORCA P.Y.Tang was able to secure the TQ spot after topping the group in all 4 rounds.

Team Yokomo/Muchmore Araya I., 2nd Runner-Up at 2013 TITC Open Brushless, sitting in 2nd and Team VBC/ORCA Natee T. in 3rd, with one more round of qualifying on Sunday. With an unexpected circumstances, Natee T. could not attend the race on Sunday, allowing Kittipong R. to qualify in 3rd. No change in top 2 after Q5.

With tension getting higher going into the finals, P.Y.Tang started off slow in Leg 1 with Araya I. and Kittipong R. putting up the pressure. A minute into the race, P.Y.Tang went wide on the S-bend in front if the drivers stand where Araya I. trying to pass on the inside. With both side by side going into the next left corner, P.Y.Tang was on two wheels having getting too close to the curbs. Araya I. took over the lead but side by side contact between P.Y.Tang and Kittipong R. sending the latter on his roof. Araya I. went on to take the win in Leg 1 followed by P.Y.Tang and Chatpong K. in 3rd. Cleaning up his driving, P.Y.Tang was much quicker off the start in Final Leg 2 and 3, taking the win from tone to tone, to secure the overall win in the 13.5T Boost. Araya I. finished in 2nd and Kiitipong R. completed the top 3.
