Quantum Mini-Z Cup 2010 Season Finale Round 6 @ Atomic Collective (August 22, 2010)

22nd August 2010 came and it was the final round of the Quantum Mini-Z Series. Again, the venue is at Atomic Collective. Still up for grab is the Stock and Mod Open class overall Champion. The last race saw a different style than the usual clockwise track, it was run anti-clockwise instead. This gave a very interesting race as most of the drivers are not use to running anti-clockwise.

Qualifying saw a very strong run from Allister, who recently tied up with TRPscale as a team driver by TQ-ing both the Stock and Mod Open class. He proved that he is very determined to win both classes of the championship. Series leader, Azmi gave his all but the lack of experience running anti-clockwise proved that he had tried his very best and obtained 2nd overall in both Stock and Mod Open in Qualifying. Jeff from Mini-Z Dynasty was also lack-lustred in qualifying from tiredness from the road-trip and set-up problems with his car. These 3 are in contention for the Overall Champion for both classes.

In the Stock Class Finals, Daniel found some new pace and setting some fast laps in the finals, however, he was plague by mistakes and took him 3rd overall. Allister too has his fair share of issues, system issues and ball diff problems did not help to secure the win he needed and ended up 2nd overall. Azmi with his smooth and consistent driving help him to the win. With both Allister and Azmi tied at 120 points in the series, Azmi won by throw-away results.

In the Mod Open Finals, again Allister was having the same ball diff problem which he wasn't able to resolve. With the problem it was hard to fight for top spot and had to settle for 3rd overall. Jeff was let down by body shell problems and a screw came out in one of the finals and he scrap for 2nd overall. Azmi again proved that smooth and consistent driving is the best way to win the race even he said earlier
that running anti-clockwise is his un-doing. The series champion goes to Azmi over 1 point over Allister.

Quantum Mini-Z Cup 2010 Round 5 @ Atomic Collective (July 25, 2010)

Round 5 of Quantum Mini-Z Cup was held at Atomic Collective. They have generously sponsored their place for this event. Turnout for this event was pretty decent and in this race we see some new (old) faces.

Stock Class saw some intense racing between series leader Azmi and our guest from Malaysia, Jeff and the new (old) Roy Chong. Roy was about to upset the the top 2 drivers with some very slick driving. Ultimately, TQ goes to Azmi. In the Finals, Jeff found some additional power and manage to take the win for the 1st and 2nd Final. 3rd final went to Azmi and 2nd overall. Roy despite his best efforts manage to settle for 3rd.

Mod Class was another class act. Again in the qualifying, championship leader Jeff was unable to produce the form he has and narrowly lost TQ position to Azmi. In the finals, Azmi showed what true form is about and comfortably took 3 wins in all the Finals. Jeff has nothing to show and scrape for overall 2nd and Fred from Atomic Collective 3rd.

2. Azmi (TQ)

The Round 4 of Quantum Mini-Z Cup 2010 was held for the second time in the Toa Payoh West Community Club on June 6th, 2010. This race is by far the most registered entries in a total of 39 entries with 3 classes to compete in 2WD Stock, 2WD Mod and F1 Open. In the 2WD Stock class, Allister Lim cruised to victory in his MR03 to TQ and overall win.

In the 2WD Modified Class, it was Allister Lim again to take 1st after battling 3 finals with TQ position Jon Han.

In the gruelling 10-minutes Final of F1 open, Azmi (TQ) went on to take the win which was the fastest F1 on the track lapping everyone else.

Congratulations to all drivers and many thanks to all the drivers who participated the race. Hope to see you all again in Round 5 of Quantum Mini-Z Cup 2010 in the month of July. Stay tuned!

P.Y.Tang of ZTW and H-Energy topped the qualifying in the 4WD GT group with 25laps 5:00 clocking the fastest lap of 11.3s. Chee Lip Keong secured second qualifying position at 24 laps 5:02 with best lap of 11.8s. In the Final A2, it was P.Y. who suffered from a broken C-Hub after hitting the corner marker hard before the transponder line letting Chee Lip Keong to take 1st in Final A2. It was down to the Final A3 to decide the champion, with P.Y. took the holeshot but found himself battling 1st with Jason Lee from 4th position. Jason Lee took the lead on lap 8 when P.Y.Tang was held up by backmarkers. P.Y.Tang was then pressuring and hard on Jason's tail which saw Jason hit a corner marker letting P.Y. to cruise back for the win and overall 1st. Chee Lip Leong stayed his cool and finished 3rd in Final A3 to secured 2nd overall. Both P.Y.Tang and Chee Lip Keong uses the ZTW 60A Version 2.0ESC and H-Energy 5000Mah 7.4V LiPo in their Tamiya TA05R

P.Y.Tang have recently tested the new ORCA Vritra TC Pro-Spec ESC and the ORCA Infinite 5500Mah 50C 7.4V LiPo to run in his open modified races, but have confirmed to use the ZTW ESC 60A Version 2.0 and H-Energy LiPo for the rest of the TAC season. P.Y. chose to run ZTW in this TAC season because of the ESC powerful acceleration and adjustable powerband that is more suitable for TAC type technical race circuit, and he is very happy with the performance and the new small size of the ZTW 60A Version 2.0 ESC and the consistent and reliable power from the H-Energy LiPo.
